GM Waffle part 1:

Coordinator pancakes (you were expecting a waffle?)

Thanks to Ashley and Allan for writing this turn, and thanks to everyone for their patience. Hard drive crashes (at work) are no fun. Back up early, back up often.

Check on the Yahoogroup for the Poll regarding Tyler Brock's cause.

http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/BrinyEnGarde/polls

Please look over your character sheet and let me know ASAP any errors. For any questions, PLEASE include your character name so I can match it up to the sheet.  That really helps. :-) Send orders in the body of an e-mail. Do not send attachments for orders I probably can't open them. If sending orders for a friend, please make it a separate e-mail message. And please put the character name in the subject line!

On a sad note:

Most of you have heard by now that Gary Gygax passed away. And you probably know that he is responsible for Dungeons & Dragons. I appreciate not only the game, but especially the people brought together with it and the many games that came along since then using these odd multi-sided dice. That includes us here at Briny. So thank you Gary, and may you roll in peace!

Next Deadlines:

Errata March 21, Announcements

March 31, Orders April 7.

GM Waffle part 1:

Thanks to Ashley for doing the bulk of the writing this turn! Hopefully now that the holidays are over, we can share the tasks a bit more and keep things flowing.

Those marked NS above: I have no character sheet. Unless I hear something by the errata deadline, I will change them to NPC.

I'm sure there are errors and omissions, so please look over your character sheet and let me know ASAP. And please be gentle! I'm setting a deadline for corrections; please send them now and not with your orders. Send orders in the body of an e-mail. Do not send attachments for orders — I probably can't open them.

Webmaster Waffle :

I would just like to say a BIG thank you to Carol for taking on theresponsibility of co-ordinating all the reports and then getting them out so quickly over the holiday, many thanks.

Next Deadlines:

January 7 for errata, January 21 for orders.

GM Waffle part 1:

Well…what pickle. I would like to acknowledge Andy's contribution to the game it is shame that it had to end so abruptly leaving us to pick up the pieces. My thanks to Carol and Andy S who have lent their considerable aid to the process of making a turn out of the notes left by Andy, to Ferdinand for taking the time to go through one of the weeks and working out who got what, to Red for writing the naval report and to Terry for keeping the game going by through funding and enthusiasm.   I have listed several characters on the Greasy Pole in Grey because I haven't had a return from them…they will be frozen until the start of the Summer Campaign and then removed from play at that point.

Cheers

Ash

DEADLINE: Friday 7th September 2007

GM Waffle part 1:

Well we have a resolution of sorts, but we appear to be missing our number cruncher GM. I as webmaster am seeking a new one and hopefully we will have one soon. Unfortunatly we do not have the main parts of the turn (character sheets, Greasy Pole, etc)

Webmaster

GM Waffle part 1:

Ten thousand blistering barnacles! Another delayed issue! Last issue it was work and illness that delayed things, this issue it is the Internet gremlins, as I was cut off for two weeks and then Red had problems sending the navy report in, as well as a bereavement to cope with. I hope you aren't losing patience, but I'm afraid we have to fit it in with real life, more's the pity!   Cheers   Andy

Cheers   Andy

DEADLINE: Friday 27th April 2007

GM Waffle part 1:

Apologies for all the delays with this one – Christmas visits, flu and this annoying thing called “work” have conspired to make the issue over a month later than expected. The resolution is not automated, and it takes me around 15 minutes per player –a good 12 hours work in total – to make all the rolls and calculations. With the flu and work I was just too tired to face doing it sooner. If anyone wants to volunteer to act as a back-up to do the resolution and/or proof-reading, typesetting or sending out all the character sheets when I can't manage it quickly, I'd be very happy for the help.   Thanks to Ash and Terry for once again providing the excellent articles so quickly.

Cheers   Andy

DEADLINE: Saturday 3rd March 2007

GM Waffle part 1:

Well, well, well … another Sunday morning spent in front of my trusty laptop and another Navy Report hits the dust … er, the streets. As always, my thanks to Andy and Terry for laying the groundwork, and to all those of you who supplied me with ideas and story lines (although I'm not a regular contributor to the forum I like to look in from time to time). Speaking of time – in my profession time, particularly free time, gets extremely scarce as the old year winds to its close, and I'm not sure we can bring out another edition before Xmas (and I believe there's one or two rules questions which have to be settled first in order to enable you to formulate your next set of orders). In case we don't make the deadline, please accept my best wishes for the upcoming festivities.

Red

GM Waffle part 2:

For me it's another Sunday evening editing and sending e-mails. As Red says, thanks to everyone, and as there won't be another issue before Christmas, let me wish you all a happy holiday. Try baked goose and roast chestnuts to get the eighteenth century feel! Port and figs, mulled wine and sweet mince pies … mmm, I'm beginning to get in the seasonal mood!

Andy

DEADLINE: Thursday 21st December

GM Waffle part 1:

Well, there is another one done – hope you all enjoy it. Thanks to Ash and Terry for the articles, and everyone for their contributions through the Yahoo groups. Keep it coming.

Also thanks to Toby for the cartoon – it's a reworking of an actual Gilray cartoon of the period. It may be two hundred years old but it still has quite a punch to it!

The next month will see nominations for candidates Parliament – don't forget to write in your orders who your character would like to see as MP for your constituency. X marks the spot!

DEADLINE: Thursday 16 th November

GM Waffle part 1:

It's been a struggle to get this one done, but here it is, for better or worse. Thanks to Red and Terry for the articles, and thanks to everyone who contributed in the postings. Thanks also to Adam for the information in duellist's table – his full unedited version can be found in the files section of the Yahoo Group.

DEADLINE: Thursday 12 th October

GM Waffle part 1:

Another one down! Thanks to Ash and Terry for being classy writers and so quick in getting the articles back , ( I barely had time for a cup of tea!), and for all the players who contributed. All ideas are welcome

DEADLINE: Friday September 1st, 2006

GM Waffle part 1:

Many thanks to Red for yet another cracking write–up and to all the players who contributed to it through the Yahoo Groups. Pats on the backs all round. As you will have seen, we have introduced a new rule about serious wounds. This isn't because we're going soft about killing characters off, it's just that I can't resist the idea of sailors with eye-patches, hooks and peg-legs! Next month will see the social side take off again, and politics will rear its ugly head (I hope!).

As always, let me know if you think I've made any mistakes and I'll try to set things right.

Cheers

Andy

DEADLINE: Friday August 4th, 2006

GM Waffle part 1:

Well, another issue put to bed, and although it is hard work sometimes it is also great fun. Part of it is on account of you, the players. It's fascinating to watch an idea taking hold in so many heads, particularly in such a number of heads far more familiar with the subject than the game's creator (poor li'l cottonpickin' me). My thanks this turn go to Ashley Casey and Allan Wort, who devised the Brest Caper; And to Andy Pearce and Terry Crook, who did most of the work (as usual). Any mistakes are, of course, my own and not attributable to them.

Cheers, Red

GM Waffle part 2:

I had a mad half hour naming the NPCs – it seemed like a good idea at the time! Hope you enjoy the issue, and please let me know about any mistakes..

Cheers, Andy

DEADLINE: July 1st 2006

GM Waffle:

Well, that's my first issue done. Phew! I hope that all the new characters who got massacred first time out are not put off – small ships sent on cutting out expeditions are very dangerous places to be (work out the odds in the rules). Sometimes discretion is the better part of valour!

Webmaster Waffle:

I'd just like to say a BIG THANK YOU to Andy for his hard work and the quick turn around. Also to Ashley Casey for doing the Battle report so quick for us.

DEADLINE: May 19th 2006

GM Waffle (Part One):

Welcome to our new players! Enjoy our new issue!

Don't forget to sign up on the forums as well, we had to rebuild it after it was hacked by some moron!

DEADLINE: April 14th 2006

GM Waffle (Part One):

Hi all,

special thanks to Terry who did the social part in less then three hours!!! Please do not forget: All naval and
military appointments
have to be announced next month!!! I'll stay in hospital next week (nothing serious!) so please be patient if you have any questions! Special thanks to Andy Pearce for the portrait of TB!

DEADLINE: March 10th 2006

GM Waffle (Part One):

Hi all, here is the new issue! Have fun and enjoy the game! J I've changed the design of the character sheets. If there are any questions feel free to ask.

GM Waffle (Part Two):

Apologies for the delay but around Xmas my right knee started to hurt like hell, which has given me a fresh set of wories on top of those I already have. John Cosgrave is no longer the only one sporting a broken leg, Jürgen Hossfeld has gone and done it too! Best wishes for a speedy recovery to both of them! Unlike John, Jürgen has promised to stay in the game although he will probably be out of action for several months (personally, I like the french phrase “hors de combat” better - and not just because in another game of En Garde my character is an officer in the Dragoon Guards – which means he's really an old war hors(e) … GRIN!! Since I still have no eMail access at home I've been unable to include any story bits you sent me, but I'm seeing a man about that today (in fact, I've taken my trusty notebook along and I'm writing this in my doc's waiting room). Meanwhile, events force me to acknowledge the fact that this world seems to be” intelligently designed” after all – by some big fat noodle brain!! Stands to reason …!

DEADLINE: February 10th 2006

GM Waffle (Part One):

Hurray! With this issue you get the new rules! Please read them carefully! If there are any questions left feel free to ask! Since the next issue will be sent next year: Merry Xmas and a happy New Year!

GM Waffle (Part Two):

Well, the new rules are finally ready and should be available on our website – please join me in a big hand for Terry and Matthias, who have done most of the work (as usual). The influx of new players, welcome as it is, has forced me to abandon most of my literary pretensions (or the report would never get done), and you'll have to look up the details in your character sheets. Finally, just let me say that anything you are particularly keen to have included should be sent to my private eMail adress ( RedHaJo@web.de ) and I'll see to it. The next report will probably come out early next year, so a merry Xmas and a happy new Year to all of you Brinyites, and a double helping of spaghetti and meat balls on Boxing Day!
